In beautiful Rauland in Telemark you will find Rauland Camping, which is open all year round. The campsite is close to great nature and the start of Hardangervidda, and is run by Eivind. Here he shares several tips on what visitors can do in the area.
We at Campio visit Rauland camping on an autumn day in October. It is fresh, misty and rainy, and the campsite is full of beautiful autumn colours. Eivind advises us about the hiking trail up to Falkeriset, which suits the vast majority of people.
Here there is a stone-paved walking path all the way to the top - and it goes even further if you want a long walk. Here you get to experience beautiful nature at the foot of Hardangervidda.
On the way to Falkeriset, we observe large birds in the mountains. Here it is possible to buy a hunting license and try your luck. We also drive past Telemark Husky, a dog center for exciting experiences and dog sledding in the winter.
In the summer, Eivind recommends visiting Totak - a great water for swimming and fishing, and salmon fishing. The former Alpine resort at Rauland Camping has tracks for cross-country skiing and off piste alpine and randonne skiing in the winter. During summer there are also nice trails for hiking and mountain biking - and frisbee golf in Rauland.
In Rauland there are many trails for skiing and snowmobiles, and it is possible to hire equipment. Rauland Camping has snowmobiles you can rent during winter!
What Eivind likes best about using Campio as a booking system is that you get a quick booking confirmation via SMS and e-mail when travelers pre-book accomodation. This makes it easy to get prepare the acommodation for the guests arrival! Welcome to Rauland!
