Welcome 😊
We bought a very run-down Austre Bokn Camping in September 2021, the campsite is run on a hobby basis where all funds received go towards cleaning, operation, maintenance and upgrading.
Unfortunately, we do not have electricity support. So electricity is an expensive cost for us.
Austre Bokn Camping is located on the E39 right down from the Bokn bridge that connects Austre and Vestre Bokn together. Easy access from the road which then generates some car traffic from the ferry between Stavanger and Bokn.
The pitch has today given us a lot of nice feedback, which makes us proud of our pitch.
We have adapted this campsite for a more calm and adult generation, so we have not invested in so many activities for children. We see that the children find the seaside well suited instead with crabs and swimming.
We now have 16 electricity columns with outlets for drinking water and electricity according to today's requirements. ALL places have the option of electricity too (water on most.) NOTE water taps have barenesafing
IMPORTANT all water in the area is DRINKING WATER.
Guest parking for cars and have built a new septic tank and grey water drainage.
Newly renovated sanitary facilities, with space for washing up, 6 toilets 4 showers + 1 handicap shower and toilet. (The handicap toilet is reserved for those who need this).
We have an intention to keep our new bathrooms to hotel standards, so we are very happy to see that our guests are involved in cleaning up after themselves so that EVERYONE can get the good feeling about clean bathrooms. (bathroom cleaning around 12:00 to 1:00 PM) is then closed :-)
Common outdoor environment in the sun wall. Set up a large tent in the common area, for div and in bad weather, accommodation for tent guests New area under cover for washing up and bench for cooking. Possibility to put in a hot plate.
Area for preparing FISH and SHELLFISH down by the sea.
Simple Playground nearby. Large chess game in the area. Has opened the ice cream kiosk Kråkebollå summer 23.
There is also a pier, pier, marina with boat and canoe rental, sandy beach and more!
There are some activities that are fun to do at the campsite. Today we have a beach with the possibility of swimming, swimming, sunbathing, boating and canoeing. Austre Bokn is located just a stone's throw from the municipal football field and playground at Øyren 50. In the area you can observe sea eagles and boat life from the armchair.
Fish from land or boat, or buy fresh fish and shrimp from local fishermen in periods.
There is a coop store in Føresvik, which is open Monday to Saturday. On the way to Føresvik you will find Bokn Arena where large and small concerts are often arranged.
It is about 1 hour to Stavanger city center and 1.5 hours to Prekestolen, including ferry. 30 minutes to Haugesund city center. 30 minutes to cozy Kopervik and if you want to take a trip to charming Skudenes, it is about an hour from us.
From the campsite you can go on several nice hikes:
• Boknafjellet
Length1.30 km
Altitude293
Boknafjellet (293 m.a.s.l.) is a great viewpoint, with a wide view of the entire Haugalandet and Ryfylke. Here, the outdoor recreation council is responsible for the parking lot at the foot of the mountain. A half-hour walk on a nice gravel road with a steady and good incline (read: relatively steep) takes you to the top of the mountain. To find this nice hiking area, turn off the E39 towards Føresvik. At Bokn Church, follow Grønnestadvegen to the parking lot at Boknaberg (approx. 1 km).
• Håklepp
Length1.00 km
Altitude155
This is a short hike with a slight incline up to the mountain peak Håklepp in the northern part of Austre Bokn. The hike goes on a forest road and path through planted forest and heathland to the top with a nice view and a hiking box with a TellTur code.
Park at the exit just before the northeastern end of the Håklepp tunnel. It is easiest to park on the east side of the road, where there is a gravel road around the toll booth. But here, there should not be 2-3 cars at a time, so as not to block the landowner's access with a large tractor. Alternatively, you can park on the west side of the road, where there is a large, open and planned space. The third alternative is to use the Norwegian Road Administration's rest area a little further north.
The walk starts at the fence and barrier and continues south along the gravel road past the tunnel's small farm building. Here you take the forest road up to the right and follow it up to the gate (400 m). At the gate, follow the fence to the left and continue uphill to the south. At the top of the fence, the path goes straight ahead downwards towards Kro, but you should continue uphill to the left. Now you will soon see the top of the knoll and can run on bare rocky rocks towards the trigonometric mark and the mailbox.
At the top of Håklepp you get a great view of the Kårstø facility to the northeast and towards the archipelago between Bokn and Karmøy to the west. On nice, clear evenings you can catch a beautiful sunset in the sea on the west side of Karmøy.
• Vardefjellet
Length3.00 km
Altitude188
This is a nice and relatively easy hike with some climbing to the highest point on Austre Bokn, Vardafjellet (188 m.). From the parking lot by the prayer house you walk about 1.2 km on a paved road, 1.2 km on a gravel road and 0.6 km on a path. At the top there is a beautiful cairn, hiking box, binoculars and a rest bench. And from here you get a nice view of Bokn, Boknafjorden and Ryfylke. You also get a good overview of the Kårstø facility on the mainland to the north.
• Boknahåvet
Hiking from Føresvik to Boknahåve
This nice "long hike" on Bokn goes from the Føresvik area to the lighthouse on the Boknahåve cape in the far northwest of Vestre Bokn. The hike usually starts from the parking lot at the churchyard or from Boknatun (shortest) and follows from the start westwards on the so-called Turstien, along the foot of Boknafjellet. This part goes on a good, gravelled cart road. Gradually the hike turns into a path, through varied landscape and terrain, heathland, small forests, marshland and over mounds and moors along small, idyllic lakes. It is well marked the entire way. Out on Boknahåve itself you are greeted by the lighthouse on the top and a well-maintained equipment and guardhouse. Here you get a great view of the busy shipping lanes Boknasundet and Karmsundet and the beautiful archipelago between Karmøy and Bokn. If you choose to walk between Sandvatnet and Buarvatnet on the way out, you can take the trail on the north side of Buarvatnet on the way back, for variety.
