Camping has grown a lot since the pandemic, and with this, new camping trends have emerged. Campers have now become a broader term, and everyone has their own influence on the camping world. If you are planning your next camping trip, perhaps some of our 10 predictions can inspire you.

1. Glamping will go mainstream

"Glamping" is short for glamorous camping, and was one of the most important camping trends in 2025 and will continue to grow in 2025. It is especially attractive to people who want to experience nature with upgraded comfort.

For example, check out Fjordsight Resort for a great glamping experience in Nordfjord.

2. More younger camping tourists

Due to several alternative and interesting new ways to camp, more young people have jumped on the camping bandwagon. The younger generation is interested in experiencing both camping in the open air and glamping, close to the experiences. Trendy areas for younger people are Lofoten and Vesterålen and Western Norway. Check out LoVe camping in the heart of Lofoten and Vesterålen, and Løken Camping and Solberget Camping in Olden

3. More Camping Families

The good news is that most first-time family campers who tried camping due to COVID-19 will likely continue to camp in the future. This will naturally lead to an increase in accommodations that cater to larger groups and families.

4. Tourists want to try new types of camping experiences

People are looking for unique ways to get outdoors in 2025, and often look to campsites as a good starting point for this. More and more younger people are also discovering that motorhomes and caravans are a great way to travel. Check out the map in Campio for unique places to camp.

5. All-electric motorhomes

Driven by the increasing demands of younger camping tourists, the use of motorhomes as a primary way to camp has grown steadily. Motorhome owners have also shown an increased interest in upgrading their motorhome. One of the most talked about topics in 2025 is the arrival of all-electric RVs.

6. Remote Workation

With more people working remotely, remote work has become a hot topic for camping in 2025. Many indicate that their ability to work remotely will be a “key consideration” in how they travel in 2025. Surveys show that more people will work while on a camping holiday.

7. New Technology

Like our everyday lives, new technology is here to stay and has become an integral part of our camping routines. Younger campers love to bring high-tech gear with them outdoors to make the experience even more enjoyable. It’s no longer enough to just bring a tent, a knife and food.

8. Local Camping

We’re seeing a clear shift towards local camping. More campers are choosing to stay domestically and travel shorter distances. Start looking at exciting destinations local to you. Campio.no and the Campio app give you an overview of all these gems!

9. Sports and travel

Mountain hikes and fishing are among the most popular activities for those who drive motorhomes. But as a new generation takes to the outdoors, many now want other physical and extreme activities such as mountain biking, mountain climbing, motorsport and water sports.

Check out Helle Camping and Via Ferrata for a raw experience in one of Northern Europe's longest Via Ferrata.

10. Eco-friendly camping

As society has become more environmentally conscious, campers have also become more eco-friendly. Accessories such as solar-powered compact grills and lanterns are increasingly in demand. Camping tourists are becoming more and more aware of limiting pollution and helping to preserve our planet!
