Nærøyfjorden Camping

Excellent location. Great view to the Fjord. The staff wasn’t very helpful. The reception opens at 4pm but the staff asked me to go around four, that’s fine. As I have booked and parked already, he can simply tell me where’s the facility, then that’s completed check in. Anyway, I went to reception at four, and the lady assumed I have wandered around and knew everything about the facility. No further check in and information provided anyway. The other down side is the shower. You have to pay extra. And you need to bring your credit/debit cards or mobile phone wallet - and it may get well when you tap to extend the five minutes shower - it just made the best thing of the day (for me) became stressed instead.

Beautiful quiet location on the waters edge. 1 hour easy walk to/from Gudvangen. Trailhead for Rimstigen is just 200m further up the valley; demanding but worthwhile for the views. Sauna NOK200 per person from the reception (discounted). Take your bank card to the showers for 6mins hot water NOK20 (we don’t understand this charge when we have already paid for electric, we generally have shorter showers than 6 minutes so it’s not saving water really). Facilities all clean and tidy. We can recommend pitch 22. Grey waste 4.6km away in Gudvangen. Chemical disposal on request from reception. Viking Valley is worth a visit, kids or no kids. We also took the Express Ferry from Gudvangen to Flåm and the Flåmbana rail return and back via shuttle bus (pre-booked via Norways Best) worked very well. This is a great alternative to staying in Flåm.
